mikumo guynemer Age 20 (apparent) Gender Female Height 165cm (5'5") Build Slim, toned first impressions Visual: Mikumo has deep red eyes and almost floor-length purple hair streaked with blue near the top. She has a fairly hourglass build with the type of toning one would expect from a dancer (or even a fighter, as Walkure's deployment on battlefields means they have to expect combat), and she lacks scars or other markings (including birthmarks/natural blemishes of any kind due to being an artificial human). She may read as unearthly/ethereally beautiful considering she's cloned from the species who in her setting are essentially gods. Note: As mentioned above, Mikumo is a clone/artificial human - she's existed for 3 years or so at her canonpoint, but was created as an adult and is equivalent to a 20 year old. She doesn't particularly like bringing this up as she only found out recently herself and is trying to become more independent from her "past life", so she may instead tell people that she has amnesia beyond the last 3 years as this was what she believed until she found out the truth in canon. Fashion: As an idol, Mikumo wears some pretty strange outfits, helped by the fact that those outfits are usually solid holograms generated by a gel-like bodysuit she wears when performing. If she's wearing this suit, she could be in any number of improbable outfits (examples: this, this and this). Outside of performances, she seems to prefer shorts or short dresses (examples: 1, 2, 3). Demeanour: Mikumo has a somewhat delicate, playful manner, often coming off as certain yet demure simultaneously. She's confident in her actions and bearing, and it's rare to see her falter. She's extremely straightforward when she needs to be (and sometimes when she doesn't), and won't hesitate to give someone a physical slap to their senses or similar when she feels it necessary. Generally, she behaves like she knows what she's doing and knows what everyone else should be doing too, but she will defer to authority and greater knowledge. Sound: Mikumo's speaking and singing voices are different (Ami Koshimizu is her regular VA, and JUNNA her singing VA). Her speaking voice is light and a little bit high, and her singing voice is more powerful and towards the midtone/deep range. While Ragna seems to be a peaceful stronghold, a strange virus called Var Syndrome exists in this galaxy, caused by "fold bacteria" that are activated by certain external stimuli. When someone succumbs to Var, they become uncontrollably violent and will attack anyone they see. Fold bacteria can be settled by the songs of people with "fold receptors", and thus, the "tactical sound unit" Walküre is created to combat the spread of this disease by performing both preventative shows and on battlefields where Var has broken out. They travel the galaxy accompanied by Delta Flight, a civilian military unit affiliated with an interstellar conglomerate called Xaos and based out of the Macross Elysion, usually stationed on Ragna. Mikumo is the second lead singer of Walküre, taking over from Kaname Buccaneer, as Mikumo was specifically engineered for the role. Mikumo is an artificial human/clone based on the genetic template of an ancient Windermerean priestess called the Star Singer, whose voice had powerful magical abilities, and thus her songs are particularly effective against Var. However, due to this engineering, Mikumo's focuses in life have been heavily surrounding her line of work, war and espionage - things like eating in front of others or the feeling of getting snow shoved down the back of her shirt are unfamiliar to her. Courtesy of being stationed on Ragna for most of her life and travelling to various planets to perform, she's seen plenty of the world and is prone to people-watching to learn more, but often keeps an arm's length from experiencing the same things until the end of the main series. abilities As a clone of the Star Singer, Mikumo's normal singing voice can soothe the hearts of those listening even when she's not using it against Var. She also notes at one point that her senses are sharper than those of a normal human due to being genetically engineered. She appears capable of leaping significant heights and distances without assistance (though she also supplements it with a booster pack that can help her glide in concerts), and is a skilled enough hand-to-hand combatant to fend off a unit of trained soldiers. She also spends quite a bit of time underwater with no equipment, implying she can breathe underwater. As an idol, she's also incredibly talented in singing and dancing without the magical aspects as well. Due to her affiliation with Delta Flight, it's highly likely Mikumo at least has basic knowledge on the handling of firearms. Mikumo's full powers as the Star Singer can only be activated by certain Protoculture relics, and she has only ever used them when under control of the Windermerean royal family. Her voice, when amplified by these relics, can send people into state of such calm they become catatonic and mindless, or activate Var Syndrome on a wide scale. When the former state is induced, certain circumstances can allow her power to be used to create a hive-mind network of all minds that have been influenced by her song, but the relic that allowed this was destroyed in canon. permissions code credit
